Theos’s report Love, Grief, and Hope: Emotional responses to death and dying in the UK features in The Times. 27/11/2023
Less than half of people want a funeral when they die, a study has found, prompting the Archbishop of Canterbury to warn that society is forgetting how to “cope with loss”.
The report’s authors, Madeleine Pennington and Nathan Mladin, noted that death is often something that is “hidden” and takes place “behind closed doors” much more so than in the past, when it would have been more common to gather at a loved one’s deathbed in their final moments.
Love, Grief, and Hope: Emotional responses to death and dying in the UK, published earlier today, examines emotional responses to death and dying in the UK, presenting the findings of a nationally representative poll commissioned by Theos and conducted by YouGov.
