Twitter prayers urged to help choose next Archbishop

The Church of England has invoked Twitter and the power of prayer to help it choose the next Archbishop of Canterbury. Followers of the Church on Twitter were urged to tweet their thoughts on who should succeed Dr Rowan Williams under the hash tag #prayforthecnc as the Crown Nominations Committee began its third and final meeting. The name of the next Archbishop is expected to be finalised tomorrow to be sent to the Prime Minister and then the Queen before being announced publicly next week.

The Church published a special prayer on its website as the 16-person committee met at a secret location to choose the man upon whom it will fall the burden of what is deemed by all, not least it’s departing incumbent, to be a nigh-on impossible job.
