Faith and Charity: Overcoming the Problem of Proselytism

To coincide with the launch of our latest report - The Problem of Proselytism - the All Party Parliamentary Faith and Society Group, with Theos and FaithAction, will be hosting a debate around the issues of ethos, evangelism and the role of faith-based social action.

With nearly 3.5 million people in the UK benefitting from the work of faith-based organisations each year, the supply of and demand for faith-based participation in public services is growing, raising questions about how faith should be incorporated into high quality care. The report explores the diversity of approaches amongst faith-based charities and considers three of the key arguments against overt proselytism.

Panelists will include:

Daniel Singleton, National Executive Director of FaithAction (Chair)
Paul Bickley, report author and Director of Political Programme at Theos
Joy Madieros, Group CEO Oasis Charitable Trust at Oasis Community Learning

Avril McIntyre MBE, Director of Community Resources
Mustafa Field MBE, Director Faiths Forum for London

Date and time: Tuesday 20 October | 3-4pm
Venue: Boothroyd Room, Portcullis House. London SW1A 2LW
