A classic marketing ploy of our time is to do something a bit subversive with an icon. We don't have many common icons these days and some of those restricted icons, such as the Qur'an, tend not to recommend themselves as advertising fodder. So, if in doubt, let's plump for the Bible.
Thus, the title of a recent Press Release promoting the new EA computer game, The Sims 3: "THE TEN COMMANDMENTS REWRITTEN".
Putting aside the fact that this isn't an especially original an idea (didn't Channel 4 do something similar a few years back?), and the details of the poll behind it are a bit sketchy ("over 1,000 adults and 11 to 16 year olds were interviewed", although we are not told by whom or by which method), what is noteworthy is the way the survey results are reported.
