Is it unChristian to seek to limit Immigration?

Is it unChristian to seek to limit Immigration?

Nick Spencer participated in a debate this afternoon considering the moral and ethical issues surrounding immigration.

Contestation over demographics and economics has dominated the public debate on immigration, whilst the underlying ethical issues have been insufficiently examined.  As a result much of the debate has been morally vacuous and public policy-making lacks a clear and compelling ethical foundation.

Held at The Church of St Peter & St Paul, Deddington, today's discussion reviewed the immigration issue from Christian perspectives, bringing forward moral considerations that will need to be properly weighed if national debate and decision-making are to be truly responsible.

Nick was a panellist for the debate, alongside Sir Andrew Green, Chairman of MigrationwatchUK and Revd Dr Nicholas Sagovsky, Canon Theologian at Westminster Abbey.  Canon Brian Mountford, Vicar of the University Church, Oxford chaired the event.
